IdleOS is a speculative mobile operating system conceptualized as my bachelors thesis that questions how current devices treat attention, time, and intent. Through interviews with informants and fellow designers, research on calm technology, humane interfaces amd habit formation, IdleOS reimagines the mobile interface to support human flourishing. Rather than always-on systems that pull for attention, it creates an intention-driven interface that adapts to your rhythm instead of forcing one onto you.
Visually, it balances clarity with softness, through time-based color gradients, subtle materiality, and functional, uniwidth typography. Interactions makes use of a ripple as a metaphor. Each action begins with intent, expanding in layers of information, and fading gently when no longer needed. Subtle imperfections and asymmetries create a more human, less optimized digital environment, supported by a visual identity that reflects these values across typography, motion, photography, and tone.
